Lapsi, Labsi, Lausi,  (लप्सी, लब्सी, लउसी) - Nepalese Hog Plum Hog plum is a deciduous tree reaching 15–22 metres (49–72 feet) in height. The bark is deeply fissured. The plant typically drops most of its compound leaves before flowering. The drupe fruits are about 4 cm (1.6 inches) in length and have a leathery yellow-green skin. Common Name: Nepalese Hog Plum Botanical Name: Choerosopondias axillaries Roxb. Family: Anacardiaceae Lapsi (also known as labsi or lausi) are a native fruit of Nepal.  The tall subtropical tree can be found growing in many parts of the country.  The fruit is greenish-yellow when ripe and roughly resembles a small oval-shaped plum.  It is extremely sour, even when fully ripe, and has a high vitamin C content.  The fruit has a tough fibrous skin and pale yellow flesh, which is firmly attached to a large brown seed.  The pulp is difficult to separate from the seeds, but once cooked it separates easily.  A ripe lapsi has a pleasantly tart flavor

A review of Nepal's only Zoo- Central Zoo of Kathmandu

Central Zoo of Kathmandu is Nepal's one and only Zoo. I have visited it many times over the few years and was curious to see how its doing.

So earlier this year 2013, I paid the RS 100 fee(for nepalis only) and entered. I will let the pictures below describe the condition and the zoo. Overall the good news is things haven't worsened. The bad news is things haven't improved much either. 

Definitely the Zoo administration needs to do more to give space to the animals. Looks to be a bit too congested for certain animals that need space. For Nepal this is relatively clean, organized, good.

   Children's playground near the animal area. Im sure animals dont appreciate the noise.

   Small birds - don't they need bigger areas ?

   Hawk's or Eagles - regardless I think they need a lot more flying area than that
