It is an interesting alternative to Chitwan National Park in spite of the fact that facilities for independent travel are not development to the same extent. It does contain rhinos that were transplanted from Chitwan in the seventies and have multiplied. It's estimated there are now over 70 individuals. There are also better chances of viewing tiger. Wildlife in the park also includes leopard, black bull, spotted deer, barking deer and wild elephant. The park is bounded in the west by Karnali River that contains   both ghrial and mugger crocodiles and Gangetic   dolphins. As the park is situated in an area affected by the Moist insurgency till 2006, it's better to get latest information before you decide to go there. Situated at a distance of 585km from the kathmandu and the largest national park in the plains, it is   situated in the Terai itself in contrast to Chitwan located in an intermontane valley close to kathmandu visited by a larger number of tourists annually.

The continued veneration of a young girl, as if she were a living goddess is part of the magic that makes kathmandu a living  museum.   The big gate besides the kumri House conceals the huge chariot which is taken around to city once a year in festival in September. Entering the house you reach a courtyard surrounded by balconies with 18 th century masterpieces of woodcarving. Perhaps you might catch a glimpse of the goddess at the window. She  is a young girl and easily recognizable  by the black shadowing around her eyes which extends as far as her ears. and by her hair which piled up over her head, photographing her is not allowed. The courtyard contains a stupa with a symbol of Sarawati, the goddess of learning in its side, looking like a star of David and mandala on a lotus. Non Hindu or Non Buddhist people ar
